7.SHOULDER(2Functions)*(ii)Seat of Comradeship; This is the last topic that will be treated on qualities of a great and exemplary leader. A great Leader must be a comrade.He leads the struggle for survival and will maintain friendship and loyalty among his people as the fight continues.He is not afraid to lead and will not backout when the challenges become unbearable and intimidation persists.He endures sickness,hardship,controversy, betrayal,mockery etc.He doesnt fight for his own interest but has the interest of his people at heart.You dont see him only when things are rosy.He fights with everything he has but not with an ulterior motive.This is the story of great leaders who fought for their nations.One of them is Nelson Mandela,Despite his death,he is still revered because of his anti-apartheid struggle in South-Africa.He didnt fight because of selfish interest,but he saw it as a call to duty.Despite the fact that he was incarcerated for 27years,he only served a term when he was given the opportunity to govern his people.He then stepped down. Another great comrade was British political leader, Wilberforce,one of the world best- known champions of freedom and injustice.He fought against the slave trade.Although he had few supporters,He didnt give up.Speaking of the slave trade,Wilberforce said "Let the policy be what it might,let the consequences be what they would,i am from this time determined that i would never rest until i have affected its abolition..He presented his bill for the abolition of the slave trade to the parliament (where he was a member) 18 times before it was finally passed.In 1807,He saw the goal for which he labored,sacrificed,and endured ridicule accomplished.What a great leader!No wonder History cannot forget them. I conclude with the words of Horace Mann "Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity". #CONCLUDED.
