Congratulations to the Germans.The world cup ended some few hours ago,It has been a month of captivating,fascinating,intriguing and hilarious moment.32 teams came for the tournament from all continents of the world for just a trophy.
Many players started with their colleagues with the hope of finishing.They never had premonition that injury will keep them away from the tournament.31 of the 32 teams cried at one time or the other.some at group stage,some at the second round.While Argentina laughed until they met there their own sorrow at the final.What are the lessons learnt from the world cup;
SPAIN;No one (not even a seer) thought spain would not have made it out of the group stage let alone been disgracefully routed based on their antecedent or pedigree.Unfortunately,they were.This proves to me that life is like a game of football.YOU DONT WIN YOUR NEXT GAME BECAUSE YOU WON YOUR LAST GAME.You have to be prepared for the next game.No condition of life is permanent,We have 'once-rich,once-poor,ex-champion,current champion.Your attitude towards the game will determine whether you will win your next game.This also buttress the point i have made before now,that you dont live in your past.Whether past successes or past failures.
We should also learn this fact;that the only constant thing in life is CHANGE.Try something new,don't depend on your yesterday,it will fail at one point or the other.Are you an academician?,try new method of teaching,an accountant?try the latest method.Are you a banker?learn a new thing so that you wont be caught unaware when life changes direction.
I once heard a story of some bankers who were sacked in one of the topmost banks in Nigeria.They were told there services were no more needed since technological advances have made them irrelevant.Computer can now occupy their roles.But the truth is,some were still retained because they had learnt something beyond technological capability.Therefore, the 'so-called' technology needs them to function efficaciously.In a nutshell,dont depend on your 19th century knowledge,things are changing.
There was a particular edition of ''Who wants to be a millionaire'' that i watched where a contestant failed a question which he answered confidently.He almost argued with the host that he was correct.In defense,the host said he also thought the contestant was correct until he got to know the answer just changed few weeks before then.E.g The capital of Nigeria moved from Lagos to Abuja on 12th DEC1991.If you were asked the capital of NIGERIA 12 am 13th Dec 1991,because you are oblivious of the change,you will insist it is Lagos.In a nutshell,Don't depend on your yesterday.UPGRADE.Have a nice day.
