Apart from a leader having a heart,mind,eyes and hand,A leader must have ears.He must be an attentive listener.A great leader must listen to God,His heart,people.He must not write off the ideas of his surbodinate.He must listen with keen interest when someone is passing an information across.There is a yoruba adage that says 'its the wisdom of a child that prevents us from calling an elder a fool'.The reason you have two ears and one mouth is for you to listen more. Some great leaders who have discovered the secrets of listening have used it to build sucessful empires for themselves.Although,some advise are out of line,but a great leader listens to all suggestions and sit down to make use of the relevant ones and discard the obsolete ones.the truth is,a leader would sometimes miss the road,but because he has been a good listener,it will be easy for his followers to bring him back on track.Ken Blanchard said "None of us is as smart as all of us."Every great idea begins with three or four ideas.And most good ideas come from people's opinion.Ben John put it this way:"He that is taught only by himself has a fool for a master".No matter what you are trying to accomplish as a leader,you can do it better when you listen to others.Good leadership is listening to the right people at the right time for the right purpose so that everybody wins.If you listen to God,your heart and to people,you will come up with a fantastic innovation beyond your comprehension.To be a listener as a great leader,you have to value the ideas of others. if you dont,your hands will be tied.That is the secret of leading organisations.Have a nice day.
